About Melanie
Dr. Melanie S. Hussain is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families in both Florida and New York City. Her work is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and the belief that every person has the ability to grow, heal, and redefine their path. She strives to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly seen, heard, and empowered.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative and creative, rooted in the idea that therapy is not about “fixing” people, but about honoring each individual’s story and uncovering new ways to thrive. Her doctoral thesis explored the relationship between mood and appearance, and she continues to integrate this perspective into her clinical work. By tying together elements of fashion, identity, and mental health, she helps clients align how they feel internally with how they express themselves externally. This unique lens allows for a deeper, holistic approach to growth and transformation.
She specializes in working with clients navigating heartbreak and breakups, grief and loss, lifestyle shifts, and transitions in identity. A central focus of Dr. Melanie’s work is helping clients re-identify with themselves and “rebrand” who they want to be—building confidence and creating a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
In addition, she has extensive experience in medical and family therapy, recognizing that illness impacts not only the individual but also the entire family system. She often collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure treatment addresses the whole person and their support network.
Dr. Melanie is also deeply committed to serving the LGBTQIA+ community, providing a supportive and affirming space for clients exploring identity, navigating transitions, or strengthening family and community connections.
At the core of her practice is the value of self-reflection and the differentiation of self. By uncovering the emotions and stories that shape your experiences, she supports you in reclaiming your voice, reframing challenges, and stepping fully into the life you are meant to live.
Outside of CMC
When she’s not in therapist mode, Melanie is often boarding a plane with a carry-on in hand, chasing her next adventure. Europe is her playground—wandering through cobblestone streets, discovering hidden cafés, and collecting little memories from each city she visits. Friends say she’s very “catch me if you can,” always on the move and savoring the thrill of new places. She usually can be found on the tennis court, training for her next half marathon, or leaning into her Pilates princess side—because movement, for her, feels like its own kind of therapy. She also has a deep love for fashion and styling, seeing them not just as clothing choices but as a form of self-expression, artistry, and storytelling. A devoted romantic at heart, she treasures life’s simple pleasures: a latte paired with a slice of cake, poetry in hand, or evenings spent tasting something new at a restaurant in Miami or New York City. And when the world gets too loud, nothing soothes her more than slipping into a vinyl lounge, where music spins its own poetry and time seems to stand still even though her energy may lead her to the dancefloor.
