Dr. Claudia Caprio

LMHC, DMFT

Claudia didn't come to this work by accident. She came to it because therapy saved her.

Growing up in a chaotic household marked by emotional instability, Claudia was placed in therapy at a young age by her mother. That experience became the foundation of her career. She knew early on that she wanted to be a steady presence for others: someone who helps clients understand their experience rather than just survive it.

Her Approach

Claudia's approach is relational and systemic at its core. She never sees the person as the problem. The problem is the problem. But she also knows that people can become so identified with their struggles that they start to believe they are broken, and part of her work is gently, firmly dismantling that belief.

In session, she helps clients understand the systems they belong to: the ones they were raised in, the ones they've chosen, and the ones they're currently navigating. She explores how those systems shape the way clients show up, how they relate to others, and where they may be unconsciously co-creating the very dynamics they want to escape. That means holding up a mirror. Asking the harder questions. Helping clients take real agency over their lives rather than simply venting about what others are doing to them.

Claudia also believes deeply that being human means experiencing the full emotional spectrum, not just the comfortable parts. Joy, euphoria, and bliss are beautiful. But sadness, anger, and anxiety aren't signs that something is wrong. They're data. Sadness means you cared deeply about something. Anger means something violated you. Anxiety is your body flagging that it's time to pay attention. Every emotion was given to us for a reason, and learning to sit with the less favorable ones is where the real growth happens. Claudia loves helping clients learn what it actually means to be human and to navigate that experience with curiosity instead of fear.

Education & Credentials

Dr. Claudia Caprio earned both her Master's in Mental Health Counseling and her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, where she was inducted into the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. Her doctoral Applied Clinical Project focused on Sharing and Connecting Through Personal Narratives: The Development of a Relational Workshop for Interracial Couples, a reflection of her deep commitment to relational healing and inclusive, culturally attuned care. For over a decade, she has helped individuals and couples navigate the complexities of relationships, identity, and emotional regulation.

Why CMC

Claudia is also deeply community oriented. She understands that humans are relational by nature, and that therapists are no exception. Having seen firsthand the toll that isolation takes on solo practitioners, she built CMC Therapy intentionally around the idea that clinicians deserve support too. Not just the kind they have to seek out on their own or pay for separately, but the kind that's built right into the fabric of where they work.

She wanted to walk out of the therapy room and see someone there. To feel the energy of a real community around her. And she wanted every clinician at CMC to have the same. That means intentionally curating a team where every therapist has someone they can see, no one is burning out, and everyone is working with the clients who genuinely light them up. Not a general practitioner taking whoever comes through the door, but a clinician who is truly in their arena, doing their best work because they love what they do.

Clients get to feel the difference. That's the whole point.

A more personal note

A Little More About Claudia

When she's not in the therapy room, Claudia is a self-described romantic — not just about love, but about life itself. She finds ways to make even the mundane feel special, a good coffee shop during a car service appointment, a new park to walk through instead of a treadmill, a menu from a restaurant she hasn't tried yet. Life outside of work is intentionally bright, because the work can be heavy and contrast matters.

She was raised in an Italian family, which means food is serious business. She loves exploring new restaurants, supporting local mom and pop shops, and daydreaming over travel itineraries and Airbnbs. You'll often find her outside, walking her dogs, finding the next great coffee shop, or simply doing something that makes her smile.

She's a Taurus sun, Aquarius rising, Gemini moon, and somehow that explains everything.

“Sadness, anger, anxiety are not signs that something is wrong. They're data.”

This isn’t just therapy—it’s transformation with a human touch.
